Correction from the last post: Kira and I went to have steak. and believe me, it was worth writing home about!
Ramadan began August 11th. I had no idea what to expect since I've never been in a country where the majority of people fast. The entire city is turned upside down. Work hours are 9-3pm (WOOHOO). Traffic is insane -I honestly didn't think it could get worse. Everything shuts down at 4pm and reopens at 9pm. Cairo is a ghost town from 4-9pm -it's really very creepy. People stay up all night hanging out and eating until the fast begins again at about 4am. Did I mention smoking is forbidden while you are fasting?! The air quality is probably much cleaner during Ramadan. Someone should do a study on it.
Most likely headed to the North Coast this weekend (Mediterranean Sea) to escape the Cairo heat (112 F) -should be gorgeous!
